I wish to congratulate Pakistan Air Force on the rollout ceremony of first JF-17 aircraft, co-produced in Pakistan. The event marks the achievement of an important milestone in the history of Pakistan aviation industry and Pakistan Air Force. It reflects the capabilities of PAF and is a proud moment for all of us.
It has taken long years of hard work, dedication and commitment of our designers, engineers, pilots and programme managers to enable Pakistan join the ranks of selected group of countries with aircraft manufacturing capability. They deserve the nation's gratitude. Its success has been made possible, by the invaluable co-operation of our time tested friend China. The Chinese aviation industry has made immense contributions in supporting the Pakistani aviation industry. Today's historic event is an embodiment of the spirit of friendship which exists between our two nations.
The JF-17 programme would fulfil PAF's need for a modern combat aircraft which is affordable in large numbers for the country's defence. It will also help build Pakistan's aviation industry and broaden the industrial base in the civil sector, as many downstream industries would be established to augment the programme in the country.
On this occasion, I would like to pay tributes to Pakistan Air Force for adopting a futuristic approach by transforming nation's dreams into reality. PAF has always made the nation proud through its achievements and today the whole Nation rejoices in celebrating their success.
I am confident that the JF-17 aircraft would mature into a formidable weapon system for the defence of Pakistan and its indigenous production would have salutary impact on the national economy and development. The whole nation joins me in wishing PAF the best of luck in its endeavours, and prays for even greater success in future.
