Firmness prevailed on the money market on Tuesday as supply of dollars was steady due to healthier trend in the remittances, dealers said. On the interbank market the rupee dropped by two paisa against dollar for buying at 83.52, it did not show any movement for selling at 83.55, they observed.
In the second Asian trade dollar trimmed losses as Asian stocks failed to follow up a stronger day on Wall Street, prompting some to buy the dollar back, and as some investors closed dollar short-positions before the Thanksgiving holiday. Tokyo markets were playing catch-up after a three-day weekend and yen crosses slipped as Japanese exporters sold euro against yen and hedge funds took profits on gains in the likes of the Australian and New Zealand dollars made on Monday, dealers said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee looked ahead versus dollar, gaining 10 paisa for buying and selling at 83.40 and 83.50, dealers said. The rupee also followed the same path versus euro, rising 75 paisa for buying and selling at Rs 123.40 and Rs 123.90, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee appreciated its worth by 10 paisa in relation to dollar at Lahore currency market on Tuesday. According to dealers, the dollar was traded at Rs 83.30 and Rs 83.50 as its buying and selling rates against Monday's Rs 83.40 and Rs 83.60 respectively. The rupee also gained strength against British pound, whose buying and selling rates slid down from Rs 137.10 and Rs 137.80 to Rs 137.00 and Rs 137.70 respectively, dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Tuesday. The dollar opened at Rs 83.35 (buying) and Rs 83.45 (selling) against same overnight values. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 83.35 (buying) and Rs 83.45 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 137.50 (buying) and Rs 137.70 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 137.50 (buying) and Rs 137.70 (selling).
