The NWFP Chief Minister has approved establishment of Elite Police Training School at Hund, Teshil Lahore, district Swabi, on a state land as a non-ADP scheme to improve and develop training facilities for capacity building of police personnel. The current wave of insurgency in the province required not only raising the strength of well-equipped and trained police force to tackle acts of terrorism.
As a result, the provincial government has raised the strength of police force to 62,000, as only one training school cannot cater to the training requirements of such a large force, which would likely to expand further in future. Keeping in view the importance of police training, the Chief Minister approved acquisition of land for the upgradation /extension of training facilities at Training Centre, Mansehra, as a non-ADP scheme, which will cost Rs 88.025 million to be funded out of the Prime Minister's package.
