Punjab Minister for Culture and Youth affairs Dr Tanvir-Ul-Islam has directed the officers to take all necessary steps for timely completion of ongoing developmental projects so that the cost of construction may not be increased. He was presiding over a monthly review meeting of developmental projects of the Culture and Youth Affairs Departments.
Besides, Deputy Secretary Planning IC&YA Department, Shakil Ahmed, Deputy Secretary Budget, Misbah-u-sharif, Executive Director Punjab Council of the Arts (PUCAR), Ghulam Mustafa, ED Lahore Arts Council, Abid Baloch, DG Punjab Institute of Language Arts Culture( PILAC), Dr Liaquat Niazi, the officers of Archeology Department and Lahore Museum also attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed in detail various ongoing schemes. The concerned officers apprised the minister of the pace of work on the schemes of their respective departments. It was told that experts were being hired from India for preservation of invaluable paintings of renowned artist Saadqain in Lahore Museums Saadqain Gallery, with a cost Rs 40 million. The meeting also reviewed the pace of work on the construction of Gujrananwala, Multan, D G Khan, Sarghoda and Murree Arts Councils and Information and cultural Complex Rawalpindi.
Similarly, 10 schemes of Archeology Department were also discussed and the meeting was informed that the necessary funds have been released for these schemes. The ongoing work on repair, renovation, conservation and construction of Shalimar Gardens, Lahore Fort, Kalar Kahar and ancient Katas Raj temples and historic wall of Shuja Abad also came under discussion in the meeting. Dr Tanvir directed the officers to personally contact with the Finance Department to get the funds releases for new developmental schemes.
