Sindh Government Press (SGP), Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Islamabad's Ravi Club forced their way into elimination phase of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) League 2009 on Thursday when they join Sahiwal's Young Blood, Quetta's Baloch FC, Pakistan Television (PTV) and Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Pak Steel, in must-win situation, showed slackness and lost to SGP 2-3 today in PFF League Departmental Leg-Group-A. Pressmen led 2-1 at interval and recorded goals through Asif Ali 9th minute. Meanwhile, in same Group, SSGC hammered last-ditch winner to get three full points, beating PPWD 2-1.
Noman Ibrahim-led Young Blood made it three in a row with another win beating Dera XI 2-1 in Club Leg - Group B. All the goals emerged in the second session at Punjab University, Old Campus, Lahore. Front-runner Asim Mansoor was hero for Sahiwal outfit with two sparkling goals in the 62nd and 65th minute. Dera XI's struck their lone goal in the 78th minute through Kamran's penalty-kick.
In another match of same Group, powerful spearhead Abdul Samad struck all four as Quetta's Afghan FC outwitted Lahore's City FC 4-0 who suffered defeats in all three matches. Ravi FC, put forward by Islamabad FA's Acting President Sharafat H. Bukhari as regional champion, collected 1-0 win over Karachi Kickers at PTCL Ground, Sector G-8/4, Islamabad to sail into final phase.
Winger Abbas Ali fired winner in the final minute of the game. The Champions of departmental and club event will earn slot in 2010's Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL), replacing two relegated team who finished 13th and 14th berth in PPFL 2009.
