Inam Raja brings light to some of the exciting experiences concerning women with stunning colours used with elegancy in his recent show at Galleria 919, an amalgam of emotions and expressions disclosing a bond between the artist and the paintings. His medium of choice in drawings is marker on paper and in paintings oil on canvas as well acrylic on paper.
Exotic yet delicately manipulating various subjects regarding women he uses different motifs along with women figures enhancing impact of his work. He made diamond shape crystals and dying vegetation following the aroma of his senses.
The painting collection comprises uniqueness and is extraordinary in every aspect, thus novel in their appearance. The elegant styles of women with bright colours of the seasons here and there, like precious stones flattering within a thick mass trying to survive in an unbearable environment. The paintings symbolise positive energy into one's personal space.
Inam tried to bring light to the positive aspects of life. He aspires to promote such positive note to revive the good old connections in the lives of women.
Thus the diversity of Inam's paintings and drawings take you to a new world of connectivity between life and emotions through texture and dimension.
"Expression, a face, an emotion, the body.........this is the focus of my contemporary figurative art. The works are sensual, the lines flowing and connected revealing the sense of connection we have to our bodies and our minds," that's how Inam' defined his work. "I hope these paintings and drawings reach out to you as they do to me and should touch a positive chord inside you. My aim is to inspire emotion within the viewer, to allow them to feel a powerful connection", he elaborated.
Inam's striking compositions depicts women lost in this degenerated world losing their identities and becoming a part of this social system, living their scattered lives unwillingly. His work is reflective, sensitive and thought provoking. He has artistically highlighted the multi-faceted and multi-model role of the women with the help of paintings and drawings. His women figurative paintings are shapely and attractive yet he did not glamorize them. They were treated with cold objectivity. In some paintings the figure became more matter of fact and un-poetic. There is nothing luscious and voluptuous either in their looks or their treatment, the subject is ordinary women unemotional and realistic.
He paints full figure portraits in different postures such as standing, reclining, sitting, and lying. The face is not given much importance and he does not labour on it. He gives greater importance to the figure in expressing his impressions. His whole attention is focussed on the form of the figure and its disposition on the canvas. His skills can be judged by the diversity of images, colours and confident strokes in his paintings while bold and sharp lines in his drawings. He renders emotions and fervour with fresh and unique compositions which are skilfully created.
His paintings are visually appealing, dramatic and romanticized through symbols. The patterns in paintings are enhanced by the splashes of colours thus controlling in compositions. He used coloured spots at different places in his work to create harmony and balance. He has also made a good use of light and dark shades to show different emotional moments in women's life.
The range of colours is strictly limited in most of the paintings and no effort is made to beautify the picture with many colours or with bright colours except a few. The dominant colour is brown or neutral except for the flesh tints of the bare skin.
The drawings are strong and firm. There is simplification and only the bold forms are emphasised. His work is sensuous but not provocative. The arrangement of the figures and their placement on the canvas has a marked design quality. His work shows realism and delicate balance.
Inam Raja is an old working artist who shows his aesthetic skills in different local magazines and newspapers by designing their titles and doing drawings for years. He came late towards fine art. He is a very talented artist with a touch of highly acclaimed artist Jamil Naqsh in his paintings and drawings.
Now the world is going towards realism and realistic painting is gaining recognition therefore in my opinion Inam Raja should also take a step in realistic world as much work has been done in the style he adopted for the recent exhibition.
The paintings are presented with different mesmerising titles mostly on the names of women including, "Jolie", "Sundari", "Layla", "Lilly", "Sapphire", "Nazneen", " Jalpari", "Omorose" and "Venus".
The collection at the exhibition demonstrates a surge of creativity. A number of artists visited the venue to appreciate the works of Inam Raja including Chitra Pritam. Momin Khan, G N Qazi, Ali Shah and many other art lovers.
