Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated in Britain, Europe and Gulf states including Saudi Arabia with religious fervour. Over two million Hajj pilgrims offered Eid prayers in Saudi Arabia, reported a private TV news channel. At Mina, the pilgrims performed Ramy al-Jamarat; throwing stones to signify their defiance of the devil.
Pilgrims climbed ramps to the multi-levelled Jamarat Bridge from which they threw pebbles at the Jamarat. After the stoning of the devil, the pilgrims performed animal sacrifices, to remember Allah Almighty's mercy on Hazrat Ibrahim Khalilullah (Alaihis Salaam) and replacing his son Hazrat Isma'el (Alaihis Salaam) with a ram, which Hazrat Ibrahim sacrificed.
Meanwhile, Eid is being celebrated in some areas of NWFP, Noshehra, Mohmand Agency and Khyber Agency. In Khyber agency Qambar Khel area, people decided to celebrate Eid with Saudi Arabia on the announcement by a banned organisation. In Salih Khana area of Noshehra, people offered Eid prayers but they did not sacrifice animals.
US President Barack Obama sent greetings on behalf of the United States to pilgrims performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia, and Muslims world-wide celebrating Eid-ul-Azha. Muslims in Britain are celebrating Eid with religious zeal and zest. UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband has offered his warmest regards to Muslims, both in the UK and all over the world, at this special time of the year.
