Central leader ANP and Federal Minister for Railways, Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, has said that there was no harm in giving benefit to the politicians through national reconciliation ordinance (NRO) especially in the countries where politics was based on political vendetta.
The NRO is not a bad phenomenon, but, it should not be applied on the people involved in loot and plunder of the national wealth, said Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour while talking to journalists here. He was exchanging Eid greetings with people from different walk of life on Eid day.
He said in country like Pakistan politically motivated cases were usually framed against the opponents therefore, politicians not involved in financial embezzlement if given any benefit through national reconciliation would not be a bad practice. He recalled that in the past political workers who were detained during various struggles led by Baacha Khan against the dictatorial forces were released through national reconciliation, therefore enactment of legislation like NRO in Pakistan was a right step, he explained.
"We are against giving legal shape to financial corruption under NRO", he said, adding but making politically motivated cases against the opponents was also not fair. To a question, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour said, establishing good relations with neighbouring countries guaranteed stability in the country. We support maintaining friendly relations with the neighbours as it has direct bearing on the internal security situation.
