Parade Lane Mosque incident: security plan being revised for Rawalpindi red zone

The security plan for the red zone of Rawalpindi is being revised after the terrorist attacks at General Headquarters (GHQ) and Parade Lane Mosque, sources told APP here on Saturday. Only army personnel would be deployed inside the red zone, while police and Elite Force would perform their duties outside the zone, they said.
The sources said that all roads leading to army units and offices would be closed for general public and declared "no go areas". The roads leading to Askari 11 and Qasim Market may also be closed, while extra check posts have been established at the entry points of the cantonment areas to thoroughly search the passers-by.
Sources further said a red zone on the pattern of federal capital is also being set up, while the red zone adjacent to the GHQ would be expanded and its surrounding areas kept under surveillance. Extra-security measures would be adopted near army sensitive areas and educational institutions, they added.
