Expressing resentment over hatching of conspiracies against the democratically elected government, Peoples Secretariat NWFP in-charge Zahir Shah Toru said such elements are least concerned about internal and external interests of the country.
"PPP is known for its faith and belief in democracy," Zahir Shah Toru remarked while addressing a delegation from Toru, Galha Dher and other areas at his residence. Listing out sacrifices of PPP for the country and its people, Zahir Shah Toru recalled that two years back Benazir Bhutto had sacrificed her life when she had broken away the status quo created by militants.
He said that PPP is firm on its stance against terrorism and would never allow any one to go for genocide of innocent people. Similarly, the PPP leader from Mardan has also diverted attentions towards the sacrifices rendered by party's chairperson Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, his sons Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Mir Shah Nawaz Bhutto.
He said that PPP leaders were punished just for their love with the country and faith in democracy. He said that PPP activists and workers from all over the country are determined to save the party and foil the plots being hatched by anti-democratic forces.
He said that founding chairman of the party, his daughter and sons rendered sacrifices for strengthening the party and democracy in the country while workers faced imprisonment and lashes during the dictatorship of Zia-ul-Haq.
He said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave a unanimous Constitution to the country, launched nuclear programme, established steel mills in Karachi besides giving employment to youth and increased the prestige of the poor people in the society.
He alleged that some elements were hatching conspiracies against the PPP-led elected government but said such plots would fail. He said despite financial crisis and unemployment at the international level, the PPP-led government had reinstated 8000 employees who had been terminated during Nawaz government.
Referring to the steps taken by the government, he said that government was taking keen interest in the development of backward areas and poor segments of the society and announcement of Balochistan package and giving relief to as many as 3.4 million poor families through Benazir Income Support Programme was an ample proof of this fact.
