I want to draw attention to the serious issue of child labour. Child labour began to be considered a human right issue. We see many parents working for their children and children enjoy their childhood, getting education and involved in other recreational activities. Such is not the case with all children.
There were approximately above 200 million children involved in this act, considered illegal by law and custom. Many of these children come from the poor areas. They are the only source of income for their family. Social exclusion and discrimination, result of poverty and ethnic and gender biases are important factors that keep children out of schools and force them to work. Children work in industries, factories some are involved in selling goods or food items or supporting their parents' business. These innocent children also want to get an education, but their financial conditions don't allow them. As Walt Disney said:
"Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children".
There are industries and individuals, who employ young innocent children. They put them to work under gruelling circumstances. They make them work for long hours weaving delicate threads to make the world's most expensive carpets. They make them work in dangerous factory units, manufacturing fireworks. They make children carry load even heavier than their own body weight.
Child labour is a world phenomena, which is considered exploitative and inhuman by many international organisations. Government and international organisations have been working for it, since many years, but there is no such result. I hope that in the future we are able to solve this problem and completely eradicate child labour from our societies.
