Security analyst Dr Ayesha Siddiqa has said that military is a part of group of king-makers and in our system king-makers are important. She said that in our system king is symbolic and king-makers are holding the powers. She was addressing a seminar on "crisis of governance: changing dynamics of civil military relations" organised by Centre for Public Policy and Governance at FC College Lahore on Thursday.
She termed media as a new king-maker because they have the power to stabilise and destabilise the government and they are chosen as partners by other group of king makers as their partners. She said that some talk shows are presenting one side of the story and they are biased. She said military is waiting for appropriate time for coming into the power again.
She further said that military is always in power in Pakistan directly or indirectly and political and economic instability does not dissuade military from taking over. While referring to the opening of the old corruption cases and NRO she said that "drama has staged again."
She said that military will take decisions in light of their past experiences. She said that all of the propaganda is going on against one person President Zardari and it seems that all other politicians and bureaucrats are honest and only Zardari is corrupt. She said that problem of our country's politics is that we are always in transition and takes change for good.
