Vice Chancellor of Sindh University (SU) Mazharul Haq Siddiqui addressing the teachers on Saturday expressed deep sorrow and condemned the incident of misbehaviour with a University teacher. He was addressing the University teachers at the Senate Hall.
The teachers had gathered to lodge their protest against indecent incident, which occurred on Friday. The teachers in protest boycotted the ongoing semester examination and held a protest demonstration on the campus against the incident. The incident took place at the time of ongoing semester examination on Friday evening when an a outsider Naik Brohi entered in class room and misbehaved with a teacher Nasim Abass Abassi Lecturer of department of Political Science.
The Vice Chancellor met the teachers and ensured that all possible legal action will be taken against the involved persons. The Vice Chancellor said that misbehaviour with a teacher is strongly condemned and every one feels sorrow on it.
He said, "Being Vice Chancellor I am condemning it three times and those who involved in such indecent act must be a criminal minded person." The Vice Chancellor while supporting teachers protest pointed out that with efforts of the University the case has been registered against the culprit on the same day.
However, he also disagreed with the way of protest adopted by the teachers by boycotting examination and reiterated teachers must have strong patience during its academic activities. He ensured and called upon the teachers to help the University regarding arrest of the involved and added that the University has been taking all possible actions.
Professor Dr Anwar Ali Shah Dean Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration and Intizar Ali Lashari member syndicate expressing their views appreciated efforts taken by the University authorities. Highlighting the facts of the incident and teachers' protest Secretary of Sindh University Teachers Association Badar Soomro said that teachers had boycotted the on going semester examination scheduled on Saturday.
