Federal Minister for Human Rights, Mumtaz Alam Gillani has said that the unanimous approval of NFC Award is the rejection of minus one and minus two demands. Human rights are violated in the feudal system so we are working at union council level for the protection of human rights. He said this while talking to mediamen at local airport here on Saturday.
Mumtaz Alam Gilani said that the tension among the provinces over the distribution of resources from the last 19 years has finally ended in the democratic reign. He said that present government is working day and night for the rights of citizens. That's why Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has compensated the rights of Balochistan people. On one hand where development funds have been provided then on the other hand those cases have also been closed against the arrested people to eradicate the violation of human rights, he added.
Responding a question, Gilani said that illegal cases were filed against politicians, journalists and common people but the demands of 21st century have totally changed now. People keep better awareness of their rights as compared to in the past. He said that complaints regarding the violation of human rights came from southern Punjab and lower Sindh and it is observed that feudal system is violating the basic human rights. It happened during the reign of Musharraf that people were lost however, the present government is trying to find the lost people.
To another question, he said that government has the full support of political parties and parliament in all the critical decisions whether it is of Waziristan Operation or of war against terror. He further added that terrorists are facing defeat due to successful policy of the government that's why they are doing terrorist activities in cities. Responding a question about the economical crisis of the country, Mumtaz Alam said that current government has removed the subsidies after coming into rule and today we can say it surely that we have overcome the economical crisis. Benazir Income Support Programme started by the government for poor and lower middle class is being hailed not only in Pakistan but all over the world.
President PPP Multan, Khalid Hanif Lodhi, Secretary Public Relations PPP Punjab, Khawaja Rizwan Alam, Salim-ur-Rehman Mao and others were also present at the airport to receive the federal minister. Gilani went straight to Qasim Bela from the airport to meet the families of martyrs died in Multan blast few days back.
