The Lahore High Court (LHC) has restrained Punjab government from sealing Doctors Hospital and summoned head of Chief Minister's inquiry commission, Nazar Chohan, for December 18 in connection with a petition moved by hospital through its Managing Director, Faiza Asghar. The court summoned Nazar Chohan for issuing statements against the hospital while matter was sub judice.
The petitioner through her counsel pleaded that she had been working voluntarily as a Chairperson, Child protection Bureau for many years. She pointed out that a three-year-old girl Amane Malik was brought to the hospital for the treatment of burn fingers and consequently she died.
She said Punjab Chief Minister had constituted an inquiry committee to probe into the death of baby girl and Nazar Chohan heads this committee. She pleaded that the committee had issued an unreasonable report without meeting legal requirements.
She said members of the committee were biased towards hospital administration, as they even did not provide questionnaire to them. Chief Justice Lahore High Court had also taken suo motu notice of the incident and formed a three-member commission to find out the real facts.
She said Nazar Chohan relying on his unreasonable report had launched a media campaign and constantly issuing statements against hospital despite the fact that matter was sub judice. She said that the Punjab government might seal the hospital relying on commission report. She requested to the court set aside commission report and restrained the government from sealing the hospital.
