A petition has been filed before the Supreme Court seeking recovery of Rs 200 billion written off loans. The petition is moved by President, Watan Party, Punjab chapter, Hashim Shaukat Khan and Barrister Zafar Ullah Khan. The cabinet secretary, secretary finance, governor State Bank, Bank of Punjab, Zarai Taraqiati Bank, National Bank, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and federal investigating agency are made respondents in the petition.
Barrister Zafar was of the view that these loans were advanced and adjusted on political consideration. He stated that these written off loans amounting over Rs 200 billion, was a loss of national wealth. He requested the court to issue directions to the respondents to recover these loans.
