Consumer behavior is defined as a decision, process and physical activity if an individual's engage in when evaluating, acquiring, using or disposing off goods and services.
Since 2003, Consumer Association of Pakistan is busy in promoting consumerism in Pakistan by creating awareness among the general public of basic rights of the consumer while exercising their choice at the time of purchase of goods and services. On the other hand it also patronize the well known manufacturers and service providers who are in excel in their field and the association on yearly basis reward them by giving award to them for their efforts to promote healthy competition in price and quality of their products.
I take this opportunity to give you a brief review of some of our activities during the year:
-- Arranged seminars on prebudget, health, intellectual property right. conference on food safety etc.
Besides this, once in a week live programs on consumer issues on FM-105.
-- Celebrating world consumer's rights day on 15th March with special seminar on the subject.
-- Delegates meeting with Minister of Industries and Commerce (Sindh) regarding adulteration of product and steps to refrain counterfeit in the market.
-- Federal Minister of Environment regarding atmospheric pollution and disposal of hospital waste.
-- Met with M.D. of Sui Southern Gas to discuss gas tariff and procedure for complaint handling.
-- Met with PTA Chairman on the issues of misleading advertising in telecom sector and quality of service by different internet service providers (ISP's).
In addition there had been several letter of complaints with suggestion to facilitates the consumers of all walks of life were addressed to companies, corporation, trade bodies and different unions for betterment of general public.
We have also launched the website of Consumers Association of Pakistan (www.consumersassociaitonpk.org) which besides consumer's awareness and information will also have a choice opinion survey which provides us as a supplement support for deciding the awareness of the next consumer's choice award planned for forthcoming year.
Finally, I congratulate all the awardees to win in their own categories and expect to provide better goods and services to meet the challenge of healthy competition of the society.
