A larger bench of the Supreme Court on Monday will resume hearing of a set of identical writs over the issue of National Reconciliation Ordinance(NRO).
The 17-member larger bench includes Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Tassadduq Hussain Jillani, Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed Justice Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmed, Justice Muhammad Sair Ali, Justice Mahmood Akhtar Shahid Siddiqui, Justice S. Khawja, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Rahmat Husain Jafferi, Justice Tariq Parvez and Justice Ghulam Rabbani.
On Monday, the bench will take up writs filed by Federation, Syed Feroz Shah Gilani, Shahid Orakzai, Asfandyar Wali Khan leader of ANP, Anwar Saifullah Khan, Mian Shahbaz Sharif leader of PML-N and five other clubbed jail petitions.
The NAB officials and Federation will apprise the bench about certain facts of Swiss bank accounts and the expenditures incurred over litigation abroad.
The counsels for Dr Mobashir Hassan, Roedad Khan, Qazi Hussain Ahmed leader of JI, M Tariq Asad and Fazal Ahmed Jat had already ended their arguments.
Except counsel for Fazal Ahmed Jat, other petitioners had strongly objected to promulgation of NRO and termed it ultra vires to constitution as invalid ab initio. While the counsel for Jat, an Accountability Court convict, argued in favour of NRO and wanted extension of its benefits to his client.
