Japan's Ministry of Agriculture has purchased 8,125 tonnes of feed wheat and 120,000 tonnes of feed barley in a tender under the simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) system, a ministry official said on Tuesday. The loading dates are from the time the contract is signed to February 10 for supplies from the US and Canadian West coast, Australia and China.
The dates are from the time the contract is signed to January 31 for shipments from all other areas. The ministry had initially issued a tender seeking 30,000 tonnes of feed wheat and 200,000 tonnes of feed barley. Under the SBS tender system, end-users and trading firms can discuss a grain's origin, price and quantity before jointly placing a bid.
