The government is said to have decided to arrest and being the former National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chief and ex-senator Saifur Rehman from Qatar and constituted a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team to arrest him through the Interpol. Talking to Business Recorder.
Sources in Interior Ministry said formal proceedings against the former NAB chairman had been started by the red warrants section of Interpol.
To a question, the sources said that a three-member FIA team would leave for Doha to bring back Saifur Rehman in "due course." Sources said that the Karachi police in February 2009 formally registered a case against former senator Saifur Rehman, for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to kill detained ex-Senator and spouse of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari, during interrogation in 1999. It is pertinent to mention here that Saifur Rehman who was the Chairman of NAB during the last Nawaz Sharif government. He has reportedly spoken about Zardari's corruption cases.
