'Seed stocking campaign imperative to maintain fish production'

Secretary Forestry Wildlife & Fisheries Punjab, Babar Hassan Bharwana has said that Fisheries Department is playing an important role in promoting fisheries related activities in the Punjab and a number of development schemes and projects in this connection are underway in the province.
He was speaking to the participants of a function held at Head Qadarabad after releasing Fish Seed of various culture-able varieties in the water. He said that the purpose of "Fish Seed Stocking Campaign" is to maintain fish production in the natural water bodies as aquatic pollution is hampering the fish population.
He further said that the problems of fish farmers are being solved on priority basis and free of cost training courses are being conducted to disseminate modern fish farming techniques to farmers. Secretary Fisheries informed that Punjab Fisheries Department is providing Fish Seed to other provinces to promote fisheries in the country.
