Executive Director Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Sohail Naqvi has said that HEC has been giving top priority to provide maximum facilities to higher education sector in Balochistan and scholarships grants for the graduates of the province have been doubled.
Talking to APP here on Wednesday, he said that scholarships grants would also be doubled for undergraduate students of Balochistan from next year. He maintained that HEC was also funding three new universities in Balochistan including IT University Quetta, Sardar Bahadar Khan Women University Quetta and Othal University. He noted that earlier, HEC had given Rs 1 billion for scholarships to University of Balochistan which had facilitated 100 teachers to complete their PHD abroad.
He mentioned that HEC recently had launched a scholarship for Balochistan's students which was being implemented in letter and spirit. He highlighted that Balochistan had talented youth, adding that HEC was planning to promote higher education in the province. He said that HEC would finance UoB through its next budget in connection with payment of the varsity's bank loans, which were approximately Rs 130 million.
