PPP leaders have termed unanimous approval of the 7th National Finance Commission (NFC) award a great success of democratic government. "Consensus on NFC award is a fruit of democratic process and reflects the maturity of political leadership in resolving issues of national importance," said PPP leaders Rana Aftab Khan and Sami Ullah Khan in a joint statement here on Wednesday.
They said the solution of all problems lay in democracy and a consensus on the NFC award between the centre and the provinces was a historic achievement of the PPP government. Because of political wisdom, the PPP government had succeeded in resolving the long-standing issue of the NFC award, they added. They said the government was working to realise the vision of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, adding consensus on NFC award would also help in making the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam come true.
They said that strong, prosperous and stable provinces would strengthen the federation expressing the hope that distribution of resources among the provinces under the 7th NFC award would go a long way in ushering in a new era of economic betterment of people in all the federating units. NFC award was a shining example of national harmony and unity which had raised the morale of the nation, PPP leaders added.
They said that all provinces were satisfied with the NFC award and reservations of smaller provinces concerning Punjab had been addressed. PPP leaders said that resources were being utilised for the welfare of the masses and development projects worth billions of rupees were being executed expeditiously.
