The planning is under process for the establishment of museum here under the arrangement of Punjab Archaeology department to preserve the historic and memorable buildings and antique items. This was disclosed during a meeting held here under the chairmanship of DCO Saeed Wahlah, which was attended by Secretary Literacy Punjab/Project Incharge Haseeb Athar, Director Archaeology department Afzal Khan, SDO Malik Ghulam Muhamad and others concerned officers.
The DCO informed that with a view to apprise the citizens of the traditions and culture of this region and other historic events and buildings, the project of museum was a significant for this district. The meeting was informed the survey of historical and memorable buildings, structures and monuments was being conducted for compiling the ingredients of the museum. The DCO informed that the suitable building was being identified for establishing the said museum.
The Director Archaeology told that it was moved to the district administration to declare the Kasseri Gate and Gumti outside the Rail Bazar as historical and antique buildings for its preservation. He asked the citizens that the Archaeology department should be informed about the memorable, historical places, antiques and cultural and traditional items depicting the regional life style and conventions, if they had any information in this regard.
