Director General Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Punjab, Akbar Aleem Shamim said during the Regional Directors meeting that the verifications for Waseela-e-Haq winners of 3rd draw are in process. Efforts are being made to enlist the consulting firms to guide the beneficiaries in selecting businesses and to run them.
This effort will lift many families out of vicious circle of extreme poverty. Presently the poverty survey is in process at District Layyah so as to prepare reliable data of poverty incidence in the District in order to bring more families in the social protection net of BISP. He further said that BISP is mindful of the plight of bomb blast victims and these families will also receive financial assistance from BISP along with a compensation package being worked out.
The issues of improved monitoring of Postal money order delivery system, providing of health insurance to beneficiaries, vocational trainings of one member from each beneficiary family were discussed during the meeting.
