New Zealand share prices rose 0.99 percent Friday with the focus on selected shares in thin trading, dealers said. The benchmark NZX-50 index gained 31.31 points to 3,154.23 on turnover worth 94.70 million dollars (67.26 million US). There were 45 rises and 29 falls among the 114 stocks traded. Market leader Telecom rose nine cents to 2.48 dollars while Contact Energy gained 19 cents to 5.95.
NZ Refining ended 30 cents lower at 3.60, a day after a 15 cent fall when a company statement highlighted its difficult trading environment. Fletcher Building gained one cent to 7.66, Auckland Airport ended three cents ahead at 1.92 and TrustPower rose six cents to 7.26. Clothing retailer Hallenstein Glasson rose 11 cents to 3.26 dollars after saying it could comfortably beat last year's profit if it gets good sales in the next few weeks.
