The analysis of Income Tax returns filed by some leading lawyers revealed that they have not declared their actual income in their returns. Sources said on Friday that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has checked income tax returns of some top Supreme Court lawyers.
It has been found that certain lawyers have not paid 6% tax on fee that they received under section 153 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001. FBR has advised professional service providers, including lawyers, to declare their actual income in the returns by December 31 to avoid penalty, surcharge and prosecution under Income Tax Ordinance 2001.
