Independence of judiciary is must for survival of country and the lawyers community should share their responsibility in this regard, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, judge of the Supreme Court said here on Monday. He was addressing at the inaugural ceremony of five-day workshop on trial advocacy for the members of District Bar Association Rawalpindi arranged here at the Federal Judicial Academy.
Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali said that judicial verdicts of the Apex Court were an indication of its independence. He said that lawyers' community had struggled for the independence of judiciary and after its restoration it was the duty of Bars members to show responsibility.
He stressed upon the participants to follow highest ideals of their profession regarding advocacy and eradication of corruption. "You are attached to the most noble profession on earth which gives you an opportunity to fight for the causes of humanity," he added.
He advised them to dedicate themselves to their profession without running after material ends. "If you go after the work, money will follow you, if you go after money, you will lose everything," he added. Justice Jamali said they should never let the monetary temptations to overwhelm them in their profession.
FJA Director General Pervaiz Ali Chawla in his address welcomed the Judge of Supreme Court and highlighted basic aims of the training workshop. Taufeeq Asif, President District Bar Association Rawalpindi, in his address thanked Chief Justice of Pakistan for opening doors of FJA for the lawyers. He lauded the judges who had refused to take oath under PCO and said that Apex Court showed its independence with its landmark decision on NRO.
