Dr Usman Farooqui, former Chairman, Pakistan Steel Mills was admitted to pre-arrest interim bail till January 5 here on Monday in a corruption case against a solvent surety of Rs 1 million by a division bench of High Court of Sindh. Raza Ali Hashmi, senior advocate representing the accused/ applicant submitted that applicant apprehends arrest by NAB officials.
He is a sick man, he said agitating medical ground on a suggestion by Sharmila Farooqui, Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister and daughter Farooqui. The bench comprised Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, later first asked the accused/ applicant to furnish a surety of Rs 2 million but later modified it to Rs 1 million.
