President, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Abdul Majid Haji Mohammad has urged US companies engaged in oil and gas business in Pakistan to invest in Thar coal and other energy sector's projects.
In a communication, he said that Thar coal in Sindh province is one of the largest coal reserves of the world and the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan have declared that after exploiting the coal reserves and producing energy, Sindh would ultimately become the energy corridor not only for Pakistan but for the region, as there is a huge potential of power generation through coal.
He said that United State should help Pakistan in exploiting Pakistan's immense natural reserves for power generation, including alternative energy solutions in the form of wind, coal and solar energy. "There should be joint ventures in important sectors. Collaboration is also required for infrastructural development projects," he added.
KCCI President said that the representatives of KCCI have raised voice at all forum for enhancing co-operation in trade and socio-economic development. The chamber believe that US can reciprocate to the contribution of Pakistanis in war against terrorism by helping Pakistan to address the economic challenges through shifting its support from conventional aid to market access, investment, technology transfer and extending help in education sector.
