Closing down of 600 stations: CNG Association calls meeting to chalk out strategy
A meeting of All Pakistan CNG Association is scheduled for Monday to chalk out strategy regarding the closing down of around 600 CNG stations for the second day, under the gas load management plan. Chairman of All Pakistan CNG Association Ghiyas Paracha stated that increase in the gas prices from January 1 would not be accepted, a private TV channel reported Monday.
He said the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) has added to the difficulties of the association by increasing the gas prices. A special meeting of the association has been called for Monday to decide future plans, he added. Meanwhile, people of Lahore remained indoors because of weekly off on Sunday. Rickshaw drivers, however, seemed to be affected.
Some of them said that two days unavailability of CNG would starve the daily-wage workers. Around 600 CNG stations have been closed down in Lahore, Kasur, Shekhupura and Okara from Sunday for two days in line with the load management plan of SNGPL. Gas supply to the stations will resume at 6 am on Tuesday.
