Managing Director PIA, Captain Mohammad Aijaz Haroon declared open the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Sports Gala 2009 being organised by the CBA (Peoples unity- union of PIA employees) at the CAA Airport Stadium on Wednesday. The sports gala includes 18 cricket matches of interdepartmental teams of PIA.
The first match played on the opening day between Food Services and Precision Engineering departments. The first semi final would be played on 7 January 2010, the second on 8 January 2010 and the final match would be held on 11th January 2010. Managing Director PIA, Captain Mohammad Aijaz Haroon was the Chief Guest at the occasion.
While addressing the PIA sportsmen, he said that the management was keen in developing healthy sports activities and a sense of sportsmen spirit within the organisation for improving the work culture for more productivity by the officers, staff and workers.
He advised the CBA to make such sports events a permanent feature for the PIA workers who should utilise their free time in such activities. He took into the confidence, the CBA that a master plan was being prepared, which would prove beneficial for the employees for bringing their performance at par with international levels. The employees would be very happy, as the management would announce the plan once completed.
While thanking DG CAA for granting NOC for expansion of Al-Shifa Trust School on CAA land, he said CAA should also support promotion of sports activities with participation of CAA Teams.
