News reports say Kurdish protesters threw stones and firebombs at police in Istanbul and south-east Turkey as tensions escalated over the arrest of dozens of Kurds on charges of links to rebels. Dogan agency says police dispersed dozens of protesters in Istanbul's largely Kurdish Gazi district on Sunday.
Police in the south-eastern towns of Yuksekova and Hakkari used water canons and tear gas against demonstrators on the second day of violent protests. The Anatolia news agency says at least one police officer was hurt in Yuksekova.
