Corps Commander Lieutenant General Shahid Iqbal witnessed the troops under going field training exercise at Saleh Patt Field Firing Range. According to an ISPR press release, issued here on Thursday, troops of Pano Aqil Garrison participated in this one week Field Firing exercise. The aim of this exercise was to train the volunteer Mujahids for achieving the professional standards as laid down in Army Instructions for training year 2009.
It is worth mentioning that year 2009 was declared as the Year of Training by COAS General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani. The Mujahid volunteers are inducted from interior Sindh to train them as second line forces in actual war. One-week exercise witnessed the battle efficiency of soldiers, which included physical endurance under trying and rugged conditions, examining the battle accuracy of weapons and to practice the offensive and bold actions at tactical levels.
While addressing the volunteers, Crops Commander highlighted the performance, dedication and patriotism of Sindhi Mujahids as demonstrated earlier in resting times. He also appreciated the newly activated troops and urged them to put their best in achieving the desired battle efficiency standards against internal and external threats.
He reminded them that the first principle of military profession is character. The Man of Character is Peace in Man of Courage in War, he concluded. General Officer Commanding Major General Akhtar Iqbal and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
Later, the Corps Commander visited Hyderabad Garrison and attended a simple but impressive ceremony to promote Mujahid Non-Commissioned Officers to the rank of Junio Commissioner Officers. He pinned the badges of ranks onto the shoulders of 14 Mujahid Havaldars to promote them to Naib Subedars. General Officer Commanding Major General Shahid Ahmed Hashmat received the Corps Commander upon his arrival and remained with him during the visit.
