Federal Minister for Labour and Manpower, Khurshid Ahmed Shah Thursday said that besides doing away with 17th Amendment, the provincial autonomy package will also be announced by March 31, 2010. "Like NFC, the present government also wants to solve such important issues and the 1973 Constitution will be restored in its original shape after erasing the amendments made by the dictators", he told a press conference during visit to PPP Sindh Media Cell.
He pointed out that all the representative parties have been associated with the Constitution Committee for this purpose. Khurshid Shah said that within a short span, the PPP government in collaboration with its allies have resolved the country's most important issues including NFC, Swat-Malakand Operation and rehabilitation of IDPs. It was the political sagacity of President Asif Ali Zardari who forced a military dictator to resign from the office of President, he said.
The minister described Balochistan Package, a first step towards resolving the crucial issues of the province and said its credit too goes to Asif Ali Zardari. He said that PPP inherited a number of economic, political and social issues from dictatorial era and for the first time in Pakistan's political history, it started a new chapter of political reconciliation and ended the tradition of political vengeance.
Khurshid Shah said that undemocratic forces do not like the reconciliatory politics started by Asif Zardari and supremacy of parliament. The PPP, he said, has always respected the freedom of expression and judiciary and witnesses exist that those who are today writing against Asif Ali Zardari used to prepare press releases for him. He criticised those who misinterpreting the Naudero address of Asif Ali Zardari and said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto too used to address his workers in the same fashion.
He described NRO a buried issue and said that Mian Nawaz Sharif has himself acknowledged that the cases formulated against PPP leaders during his tenure were fake. Khurshid Shah said that PPP's performance is before everyone and in a brief period, it initiated revolutionary steps.
He said the government IRO enforced during the dictatorial period and an important step was taken by awarding 12 percent ownership rights to workers in state organisations. The Federal Minister said that people of Pakistan are fully aware of conspirators against democratic government.
He said that people are well acquainted with Roedad Khan who always welcomed the military dictators and worked with them and so was Dr Mubashar who had left Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in a very difficult period. He demanded of reopening of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto case by Supreme Court. He said that when Asif Ali Zardari had been facing false cases and he was declared as "Hur Mujahid" not by PPP but by a senior journalist.
