Arabica coffee and US cocoa futures moved higher early Thursday, the last trading day of 2009, buoyed by the weak US dollar and firm commodity complex, traders said. The markets will be closed Friday for the New Year's Day holiday and will reopen for regular trade Monday.
Benchmark March arabica coffee futures rose 0.65 cent to $1.3730 per lb by 9:02 am EST (1402 GMT). Tight session range from $1.3710 to $1.3820 per lb. March volume quiet at 1,278 lots. Benchmark March cocoa gained $49 to $3,296 per tonne by 9:03 am. Session range from $3,252 to $3,321 a tonne. March volume was at 2,480 lots.
