The Karachi Port handled 101,974 tonnes of cargo including 65,187 tonnes of import 36,787 tonnes of export cargo and 5,177 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 65,187 tonnes comprised of 64,136 tonnes of dry cargo including 38,446 tonnes of containerised cargo; 25,690 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,878 tonnes of DAP; 1,727 tonnes of oil cake meals; 16,150 tonnes of coal; 2,280 tonnes of canola and 1,051 tonnes of oil and/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo comprised of 36,787 tonnes of dry cargo including 28,256 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,531 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,330 tonnes of cement and 1,068 tonnes of rice. Four ships namely Maa Samuda Khatun, Hanjin Kingston, Bow Star and Wan Hai-510 sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Five vessels viz Cap George, Bow Star, Anne Sofie, POS Island and Bunga Raya Sepuluh are currently at the berths. Two ships namely Hyundai General and Terrisha expected to sail on Friday, while two vessels viz Bunga Raya Sepuluh and MSC Atlantic are expected to sail on Saturday. OOCL Dalian due to arrive on Friday, while six ships namely APL Chicago, APL Balboa, OEL Shreyas, Ninos, General Tradition and You Mei are due to arrive on Saturday.
