PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION OF BB: The Lok Virsa organised a photographic exhibition depicting the life and achievements of Benazir Bhutto to mark the 2nd anniversary of her shahadat on December 26 in the spacious premises of Heritage Museum. The exhibits displayed are the creation of Amjad Hussain, Shiraz Haider and Rubina Khalid.
Having a round of the photographic display one could share with the odyssey of a great politician, intellectual and author of international eminence called BB. The exhibition also unfolds a series of historical incidents, interactions of BB with world's leaders and rulers, her state engagements at home and abroad and her participation in socio-cultural gatherings. The exhibition also depicts BB's interaction with her family members including her father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, mother Nusrat Bhutto, sister Sanam Bhutto, husband Asif Ali Zardari and kids Bilawal, Bhukhtawar and Asifa.
The viewers could see the glimpses of her diplomatic interaction with world leaders including Yaser Arafat, Indira Ghandi, Margaret Thacher, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, George Bush Sr and Francois Mitrerand. The most attractive part of the exhibition relates to her struggle for the restoration of democracy in the country. She relentlessly fought against the tyranny of Zia dictatorship. During her two time premiership of the country she endeavoured hard to develop institutions in socio-cultural and agro industrial sectors.
But both the time she was removed on one pretext or the other leaving her unfinished agenda of progress. The photographs depicting these incidents are treated as the tragic part of our history. Khalid Javed, executive director of the LV announced to create a life size relief image of BB to be put in the museum in near future. Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, leader of the house in Senate was the chief guest on the occasion.
Art therapy 'Make a wish': It was a pleasant and promising scene with a number of terrorism stricken children gathered to attend an 'Art Therapy' workshop under the auspices of Media Vision (MV) at the premises of Lok Virsa (LV). It was third event in a series conducted by an eminent artist Samina Jamshaid, director of the organisation. The previous workshops were held in Bhara Khu, a sub urban outfit in the vicinity of Islamabad with a number of destitute families of IDPs living there for some time.
The prime objective behind these 'Art Therapy' workshops stands for the early rehabilitation of terrorism stricken kids through the soft means of art activities. It could help destitute children to come out of mental trauma caused by the havoc of terrorist activities unleashed in the areas of their ancestral abode.
The latest workshop was designed to make kids bring out their wish and display it on paper through a variety of colours, forms and objects. Kids were provided pictorial charts to facilitate them to have their own choice of object to translate it through sketching and drawing. Most of the children wished to have ice cream, burger, sweets and candies to eat and drew objects like cycle, trees and flowers while girl kids wished for dolls, dollhouse and books etc.
Samina Jamshed termed it a positive and healthy development as in previous workshops kids drew broken houses, heaps of garbage and other signs of destruction due to their fresh experience of terrorism in their areas. With the passage of time their wounds have been in a process of healing. A pleasant hope has been infused in their innocent thinking. She is determined to add a new segment of 'Music Therapy' for the rehabilitation of IDPs kids in near future.
Art lovers and conscientious segments of the society lauded the initiative of 'Art Therapy' workshops for the destitute IDPs kids. It is hoped that more resourceful people would come forwards to put their share in this noble cause.
