President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday vowed to strongly fight against the "anti-democracy elements" and asked political forces to safeguard the country's interests. "Any evil eye cast against Pakistan will be confronted unitedly by political forces of the country," the president said while addressing the ground-breaking ceremony of Darwat Dam here.
The Darwat dam, with a storage capacity of 119,546 acre feet and hydropower generation of 450 KW, will irrigate about 50,000 acres of land. President Zardari expressed his resolve to strengthen the country and said, "We will never bow before the opponents."
He said the foundation stone of Darwat dam had been laid in purview of the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto based on the socio-economic uplift of masses. He said similar steps would be taken to improve the conditions of common. Zardari said Benazir Bhutto was martyred because she always raised the voice for the poor. "The Bhuttos can be murdered but their vision cannot be eliminated," he said.
