Provincial Minister for Finance, Planning and Development, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said that Punjab government has released Rs 123 billion for completion of development schemes in the province during the first five months of current fiscal year in which Rs 51 billion has been spent on various development projects till the end of November 2009.
While talking to a delegation of MPAs at his office, the minister said that Punjab government has utilised 41 percent of released development funds which is beyond fixed target. He said that Punjab government is not only regular reviewing the development projects but also special attention is being paid for the quality of material used in development schemes.
He said that during the current fiscal year approval process of development schemes was very fast and the Planning & Development department conducted 14 Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) meetings for the approval of schemes. He said that the Administrative Departments also held DDSC meetings regularly and up till now 99 percent of the development schemes stands approved and execution on these schemes is underway.
According to Kaira, the regular monthly ADP review meetings were being held to monitor the implementation of development programme. He added that during last fiscal year, Punjab government had 95 percent development funds, which was a record utilisation of funds in the history of Punjab.
