Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) has registered around 18,000 employees under the government's scheme to provide houses to government servants. The scheme was launched by the Prime Minister in August last year. Talking to APP, Director Finance FGEHF Kashif Ahmed Noor said membership drive was initiated with the prime objective to provide housing units to government employees under government's ambitious plan.
"The scheme will help overcome housing backlog hitting hard a significant number of employees for the last several years," he added. He said under the scheme, every registered employee would get opportunity to have a house in the Federal Capital, which has so far remained an elusive dream for many. Federal government employees in different scales have been asked to submit registration forms with set amount for each category. These forms can be downloaded directly from Ministry's website where all other related details are also available.
Kashif said that the registered employees would be able to get plots and apartments or flats of their own choice on 'first come, first served basis'. About mechanism of ownership, he said all the newly constructed residences would be disposed of accordingly on the basis of submitted lists and the aspirants would be accommodated on updated lists.
He added that different categories of residences would be handed over to registered employees accordingly, and no one would be left out to avail this opportunity. To a question, he said no specific deadline was set for submission of registration forms. He said that the organisation would continue receiving the forms.
To a question he said, the registered employees would be eligible to get plots in Bahara Kahu and flats in G-13, and along Murree Expressway. About 2,500 plots would be available in Bahara Kahu, while 1600, 2544 flats would be available for employees in G-13 and along Murree Expressway, respectively. He added that land-levelling work in Bahara Kahu is in progress.
