Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that there is no threat to democratic system in Pakistan and no one should have any apprehensions in this regard. He was addressing a concluding ceremony of the third training course of Punjab Police arranged by Lahore Corps of Pakistan Army at Mehfooz Shaheed Garrison here on Monday.
Corps Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Ejaz Ahmed Bukhshi, Major General Mazhar, Major General Raza Muhammad, Home Secretary Nadeem Hassan Asif, Inspector General Police Tariq Saleem as well as seniors officers of Pakistan Army and Police were present on the occasion.
According to him, the training of police officers and jawans by the army is a shining example of mutual co-ordination and harmony between institutions. The army is rewriting history with its courage and bravery in the war against terrorism and the supreme sacrifices of armed forces have raised the morale of the nation. Pakistan is facing serious challenge of extremism and militancy, and it could only be countered with collective wisdom, determination and professional training.
He was thankful to army chief General Ashfaq Parvaiz Kiyani and his colleagues who have arranged a comprehensive programme of training of Punjab Police on modern lines for coping with terrorism and extremism. He said the army is playing a commendable role in the war on terror and after successful operation in Malakand and Swat, a fatal blow is being delivered to terrorists in South Waziristan.
"These supreme sacrifices of the army have boosted the morale of 170 million people of Pakistan. Such tragic scenes of terrorism in Meena Bazar in Pashawar, Moon Market in Lahore, Parade Line Mosque in Rawalpindi and other cities of the country in which several innocent citizens (including children lost lives) have never been seen in the history of the country.
Parade Line Mosque, besides officers and jawans, innocent children who were bowing before Allah Almighty also embraced martyrdom. The army, police and the whole nation is fighting the war for the survival of the country and are determined to foil the nefarious designs of the enemy through unity and solidarity.
Jawans of Punjab Police have acquired excellent training with the assistance of the army for maintaining peace and combating terrorism and will now be able to perform their responsibilities more efficiently," he added. He said he is thankful to Corps Commander Lahore Ejaz Ahmed Bukshi and other senior officers who have arranged training of police jawans on proper lines. He also said he salutes the Pakistan Army and police jawans who have given a message of unity and solidarity to the whole nation by jointly participating in the training course.
Corps Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Ejaz Ahmed Bukshi said the recent wave of terrorism has tarnished the image of the country. He said anti-Pakistan elements are trying to weaken economic foundations of the country but they will never succeed in their designs, as the army, police and the whole nation is united to foil such conspiracies.
"Sacrifices of police in the war against terrorism are a glorious example of commitment to their responsibilities. The training course of police for capacity-buildings has been arranged on the instructions of the Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvaiz Kiyani and the process has been started throughout the province," he added.
Earlier, Brigadier Zaffar gave a detailed briefing regarding the training course. The Chief Minister witnessed display of practical training of police jawans and appreciated their professional efficiency. That Chief Minister gave away certificates to police jawans who received training.
