A youth was buried alive for 21 days on the advice of a spiritual leader (Pir) in the rural area of Manawala, sources said on Sunday. Safdar Ali, 28, son of Muhammad Sharif, resident of Totanwali was directed by his spiritual teacher Pir Mian Lala of Tatapur, Pakpatan by mobile phone, to dig a grave in his house's room and bury himself alive for 21 days, after taking bath and wearing a shroud.
On this, the relatives of Safdar Ali gathered and buried him alive along with maize, water pitcher, handkerchief and prayer mat in a grave of length 6 ft, depth 5 ft and width 4 ft, for 21 days. The news spread like a jungle fire in the area and people from all around started arriving to see the grave of the alive but no one was allowed to enter the room.
The parents of Safdar Ali said that their son had already paid two 'Chillas' in which he had escaped safe and had hoped that he would do the act successfully as well and get out alive after 21 days. Safdar had six brothers and six sisters all married but Safdar had not tied the knot.
