The government has planned to establish two medical colleges in Balochistan with the estimated cost of Rs 200 million. According to official sources, one medical college will be established in Khuzdar with cost of Rs 100 million while another college will be set up in Loralai with the cost of Rs 100 million.
They said an amount of Rs 400 million will be used for extension and development of BMC Complex Quetta while the government has also made plan for extension and development of Cancer Hospital, Quetta with the estimated cost of Rs 300 million. They said the government will establish 300-bed hospital with Trauma Centre in Keamari Town Karachi with an estimated amount of Rs 1,500 million while similar amount has been allocated for Establishment of 300-bed Maternal and Child Health Institute at District Benazirabad.
They said Rs 500 million has also been allocated for establishment of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical Complex at National Highway near Razzaq Abad, Bin Qasim Town, Karachi and for upgradation of Cancer Treatment facility at Nishtar Hospital in Punjab an amount of Rs 397 million has been allocated. Sources said the government will also establish Benazir Medical College at Gujranwala with estimated cost of Rs 200 million while Rs 500 million has been allocated for Establishment of 150-bed DHG Hospital in Palandri in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
They said during current financial year 10,000 Lady Health Workers have been added making the total 110,000 LHWs while in second phase another 10,000 LHWs will be inducted from all provinces. They said around 50 projects in the health sector have been initiated with the help of foreign donors making a considerable contribution to public health and several agreements have been signed with many countries for enhancing co-operation in health sector.
