Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) here Monday adjourned to January 19 the proceedings of a suo motu case against the police for not arresting a lady teacher, accused of damaging the eye of a student of a private school. The CJ adjourned the proceedings after SP Allama Iqbal Town informed the court that the accused teacher had been granted interim pre-arrest bail by the trial court and proceedings, as per the law, were in progress.
The CJ therefore adjourned the hearing till the next date of hearing. Earlier, the CJ had taken notice on a news item published in a national daily, stating that despite the lapse of two months, the police remained unable to arrest the said teacher.
