Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain has asked the concerned departments to carry on the ongoing operation against land grabbers and owners of unapproved housing colonies. He also instructed revenue officers to compile information regarding land grabbers and illegal housing colonies on prescribed form sent to them by Board of Revenue without any delay so that further actions could be taken against the culprits.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting held to review the pace of ongoing operation against the land mafia and receiving of government taxes. The Commissioner directed the concerned authorities to prepare a comprehensive record of vacant properties adjacent to government residences and offices so that a strategy could be made to utilise it in the interest of government.
Briefing the meeting ACR Shafatullah Mushtaq told that an amount of Rs 2,21,0113 was received by the revenue authorities under different heads in the month of December 2009. Director Excise and Taxation Syed Ashiq Hussain informed the meeting that his department had recovered Rs 57.5 million under the heads of property and other taxes during the last six months.
The Commissioner directed the revenue and excise departments to further improve their performance and make strenuous efforts for recovery of government taxes. Earlier, the commissioner was told by the authorities of agriculture department that a total of 1183 tractors are being given to small farmers under CM Punjab Green Tractor Scheme.
