President High Court Bar Association Multan Qamar-uzzaman Butt has strongly condemned the distribution of anonymous pamphlets among lawyers, which accused the superior judiciary of corruption and the chief justice of meeting politicians.
Former Vice Chairmen of Pakistan Bar Council, Mirza Aziz Akbar Baig and Mian Abbas Ahmed in their separate statements on Sunday termed the pamphlet a serious conspiracy to disintegrate the country under the present circumstances and demanded a high level judicial inquiry into the matter.
They said that the pamphlet was a conspiracy against the judiciary, which was moving in the right direction and dispensing justice to all without any consideration or influence. In the presence of a proper constitutional procedure to remove a judge by sending a reference to Supreme Judicial Council under article 209 of the constitution, such dangerous tactics were tantamount to contempt of court, he said.
