Co-ordinator to Chief Minister Punjab for Sasti Roti Programme, Rao Tahir Musharraf has said that 200 mechanical tandoors would be installed in all over the Punjab that would cost Rs 240,000. He said that 10 mechanical tandoors would be installed in Multan. He was giving a briefing at information office Multan about Sasti Roti programme.
Chairman Food Support Programme & Sasti Roti Multan, Umar Farooq Bhatti, Co-ordinator Sasti Roti Programme Sargodha, Rehmat Elahi, Deputy Co-ordinator Jhelum and Dr Akbar Ullah were also present in the briefing.
Rao Tahir Musharraf told that mechanical tandoors possess the capability to bake 1200 loaves in one hour. He said that mechanical tandoors would be given to common man on instalments and without interest and they have to pay an instalment of Rs 5000 per month. Every owner of mechanical tandoor would be provided with 40 bags of atta of 20-kg each daily. No other mechanical tandoor would be installed around one kilometre area.
He said that CM wants to see his plan, to provide sasti roti to public, a successful one that's why he has formed Sasti Roti Authority in this regard and CM is himself its chairman. He further told that Director Sasti Roti would be appointed in every district under this authority. Moreover, Special Tribunal would be also established that would punish the people involved in any corruption. Any person or official involved in any kind of fraud or corruption in this programme would be put behind the bars for three years.
Chairman Umar Farooq Bhatti said that 10 mechanical tandoors would be installed in district Multan. These tandoors would be installed in Ghanta Ghar, Delhi Gate, Manzoorabad, Double Phattak, Suraj Miani, Industrial Estate, Shujabad and Jalapur Pirwala. He further told that a mechanical tandoor is working at Chowk Shah Abbas where Roti is being provided at Rs 2 and Daal at Rs 5 per plate.
