Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party (STPP) has warned the US and its European allies against what it says turning Karachi into a state like "Israel", saying that the country's biggest city should only be seen in the context of centuries-old Moen-Jo-Daro civilisation.
Speaking at a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Tuesday, Chairman of STPP Dr Qadir Magsi showed serious reservations over the visits of the US and European envoys to the MQM's headquarter Nine-Zero. Expressing apprehensions, the nationalist party's chief said "the US received and welcomed the City Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal and gave him a complete state protocol, depicting that as if he is a head of an independent state and not a Mayor of Karachi".
He also lashed out at Interior Minister Rehman Malik and accused him of protecting the "terrorists of target killing" in the city. Magsi warned the Sindh government of grave consequences if any terror incident took place in STTP rally scheduled to be held on January 21 in Karachi.
With unfolding his party's five-point agenda, he said that the rally is aimed at subduing the "terrorists behind target killings". He said that his party will support the labour class of society through its five-point agenda against the landlords, ethnic terrorists and "Punjabi establishment".
The first point is about the right of rule over Sindh, which should be with indigenous people of the province. Second, Sindhi should be the official language of Sindh while Pashto, Siraiki, Punjabi and Balochi should be the language of other respective provinces.
Third, Sindh should have the right to collect taxes and have control over its resources, seaports, oil and gas, and the river. However, as per its discretion, it will provide revenue from its tax collections to the federal government, whatever it estimates.
Fourth, all other people living Sindh who had come after 1954 from other countries, including India, Burma, Bangladesh and Afghanistan should be sent back to their respective countries. Whereas, Pakistanis belonging to other provinces, including the Punjabis and Pukhtuns should be stripped of their voting rights. While living in Sindh, they should also be issued work permits officially. The final point, all those who had been involved in the murders of Sindhi leaders from Z.A. Bhutto to Benazir Bhutto should be tried and sentenced for their crimes, Magsi demanded.
