The Khattak Qaumi Ittehad (KQI), District Karak, has opened Manzlai-4 Bakha Banda Reg Gas Well (M-4) on the request of Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Iftikhar Hussain. Iftikhar is also chairman of the special committee formed by the provincial government regarding oil & gas issues in district Karak. Representatives of KQI also assured their full support to the provincial government in this regard.
This assurance was made in a meeting of the said committee held under the chairmanship of the Provincial Minister here in Peshawar. Beside NWFP Minister for Prisons Nisar Gul Kaka Khel, Commissioner of Kohat Division Khalid Khan Umarzai, DIG, Kohat, Abdullah, General Manager SNGPL Imdad Hussain, DCO and DPO Karak, the meeting was also attended by President of KQI Sharif Khattak, General Secretary Sardar Khan and office bearers of KQI Jehanzeb Khan and Alam Gul Khattak.
The meeting took serious notice of the absence of the authorities concerned of MOL and OGDC, particularly the attitude of the MOL with the administration as well as locals of the area. The meeting has warned the MOL to change its attitude and refrain from such tactics that could provoke the people and create problem of law and order in the area.
The meeting was informed that the provincial government had so far made payment of its share Rs 107.8 million to SNGPL while payment of Rs 30 million was in the pipeline. Similarly, the meeting was informed that work on provision of gas to 36 villages in Banda Daud Shah was in progress while installation of meters of the said villages would be started within 20 days.
The Minister asked the people not to take illegal connections of gas and install their meters without any delay. He said that the province was backward and poor and execution of natural resources like oil and gas was a great blessings of Allah Almighty, and hoped that it would prove useful in ameliorating the lot of the masses. He appealed to people that there should not be any steps that could harm the developmental process in the province.
He said that the government was taking early steps to pay its 25 percent share to SNGPL and it was also in close contact with the federal government for its 25 percent share to SNGPL so as to ensure early provision of gas to the dwellers of district Karak. He directed the District Administration to stop all works initiated without NOC of the district administration. Nisar Gul said that being a representative of district Karak, he was the custodian of the interests of the area. He appealed to the people to cooperate with the government in its efforts of provision of gas in the area.
